Open Location Codes also known as Plus Codes are an initiative by Google to provide addresses to parts of the world that do not have Street Names or other easily traceable or official addresses.

Gregor J. Rothfuss, the technology lead for the Google Maps team, announced on Google+ that Google Maps now supports places without addresses. This is also known as location codes or plus codes.
